Trading is the hardest to learn. In the other hand it could be the most profitable activity of all. Think about it. For example, if you trade currencies at Forex, some brokerage firms could lend you as much as 100 times your initial investment to trade. This means that you are receiving a LOT of leverage. You are magnifying the power of your trading capital. Some people know that they have creative talent, but they don't know how to profit from it. Others have a clue about it. They have that gut feeling or maybe just common sense, which tells them that the future of business is on the Internet. Probably you have never thought about creating anything that could set you financially independent. Let me tell you that the opportunities are endless once you learn how to do it. There are many ways you can advertise on the Internet for free. When you are an affiliate, basically what you are doing is just to advertise other people's products and services. Remember that you can get paid 50% for every sale and more. With such high commissions you don't need to sell many products to start generating a substantial income.

t’s actually far easier than you might think. I don’t want to give you the impression that there is a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end of it. But, at the same time, there are plenty of ways to make money online, should you wish to do so.

Before You Go Online, Answer These Questions

Before You Go Online, Answer These Questions
The answers to these questions will begin to build a list of Keywords you can use in your search.

What Do You Want to Do? What Can You Do? (Skills and Occupations)
What skills do you have, what interests, etc. Identify general occupations that interest you, not specific job titles.
Think healthcare or sales, not Chief Medical Officer or Director of International Sales
Who Do You Want to Work For? (Industries and Employer Preferences)
What industry interests you, what type of employer? If you have some specific companies you want to target, great!
Fortune 500, Inc 500, high-tech start-up, family-friendly organization...
Where Do You Want to Live and Work? (Location location location)
Is there a particular city, state, region, or country?
California, Southern Maryland, "someplace with sailing, good golf courses, and very little snow."
Don't laugh. I know someone who focused his search this way.
Saying "anywhere they'll hire me" will not work. There's just too much stuff online. However, you can take the time to research the industry or occupation you're interested in and find out where they are hiring people....

Going Online

Why Bother?
If the job search is already hard, why add to the stress by using the Internet?

You can access current information at all hours of the day or night.
The Internet doesn't recognize holidays, and the whole thing won't go down all at once for maintenance. It's there when you are ready to use it, even at midnight after finally getting the kids to bed.
You can reach deeper into your local area as well as take your search far beyond your regular boundaries.
There are no geographic limits. There may be employers who would prefer to hire from their local area, but that doesn't mean you can't accept the job and, if it's worth it, pay for your own move. You can also dig down deeper into your local area, finding the smaller employers within walking distance from your house who are dying to find someone just like you. I saw it happen at a workshop I gave in Boston.
Using the Internet in your search demonstrates leading-edge skills.
Whether you found the job listing online or did research online before your interview, make sure you tell the employer. This means you not only know how to use a computer but you also know how to navigate this online morass.
The Internet lets you meet new people and initiate new relationships with others in your profession or region.
On the Internet, no one can see you sweat. You don't have if you look okay or if everyone can see that your hands are shaking. Take your time, and relax. Find the groups and folks that feel best to you and are discussing things that interest you, and then take your time getting to know them before putting your best electronic face forward.
The Internet can help you explore career alternatives and options that you maybe haven't considered.
Not quite happy with your current job? Is it the job or the career path you've chosen? Not sure? Explore! What sounds like fun? What are you doing now, and are there any ways to can take your skills and apply them in a new direction? You can find some self-assessment tools online, loads of occupations and disciplines to explore, and even lists of local career counselors and career center to help you if you feel you need it.

How to Use The Internet in Your Job Search

Using the Internet in your job search is not necessarily easy. It crosses a variety of services and information resources. No single list, network, or resource will contain everything you need for a fully effective online job search.

What Makes Up The Complete Job Search?
Many people believe they are hard at work looking for work when they religiously scan the Sunday Classifieds. Unfortunately, what they are really doing is expending 100% of their effort on only 25% of the possibilities.

A Real Job Search has 4 Main Activities:

1. Reviewing job leads
2. Researching and contacting employers about possible opportunities
3. Networking
4. Having a resume ready to hand out as opportunities present themselves.

And Now it has 2 Alternatives -- Off-line and On

Review Job Leads
Print Newspapers / Journals / etc.
VS
Online Job Banks / Recruiters / Newspapers / Journals / Associations / etc.

Research and Contact Employers
Print Telephone Books / Business Directories / Employer Pamphlets
VS
Online Telephone Books / Business Directories / Association Links / Industry sites / Employer Webpages / etc.

Networking
Meeting with anyone you can through meetings / friends / colleagues (a.k.a. Pressing the Flesh )
VS
Participating in appropriate Mailing Lists / Newsgroups / Chat Forums as well as turning OFF the computer to make calls and attend meetings (a.k.a. Face Time)

Prepared Resume Ready to Post or Email
Having a nicely designed copy as well as scannable copy printed and ready to mail or present on demand
VS
A plain text copy ready to post or email on demand.

However you approach your job search, you cannot put all your eggs in only one of these available eight baskets. A successful job search means using a combination of as many baskets as possible in different ways. While you are the only one who can determine your level of comfort with any given basket, you really must use at least one basket from each main area (job leads, networking, research, and the resume) to get the best results from your efforts. Why?

* If you don't have your well-written resume in plain text, it won't be easy to send in response to ads found online nor to email to new contacts.
* If you don't attend local networking meetings, you could be missing a chance to meet the best person positioned to help you with your search.
* If you don't look at the jobs posted online you could be missing lots of local opportunities you've missed in other places.
* If you don't shut off the computer, how can you call employers and speak with them about possibilities and convince them how much they need you?

Quick Overview of Creating a Website

There's a lot of information on this site and if you're a beginner, it can be overwhelming. I created this quick guide just to give you an idea of what's involved with creating a website.

I encourage you to read it through once without clicking on any of the links just so you can understand the big picture. Then after you've absorbed the info, go back and click the links for more info.

Also watch my video that provides a quick overview of what you need to begin your site.

Want to Create a Free Website?

This article may sound a little harsh to some. It's not meant to be as I am just stating the facts from my own personal experiences.

I'm sure there are some good free hosts out there, it's just that my experiences with them have been pretty negative overall.

I don't think many people realize the number of disadvantages that go along with creating free websites. Hopefully this article will shed some light on the subject.

Don't make the same mistake I did. After this nightmare, I vowed to never go the "free route" again. Creating your site from scratch with its own dot com name is affordable and definitely worth the small investment.

Parking your site at a free host is often like building a house on sand. It may be quick and and it may seem easy at first, but I can almost guarantee you it won't last long.
Disadvantages of Free Web Hosts

* Limited web page space
* Can't add interactive features (chat rooms, message boards, games, online ordering etc.)
* Search engines often ignore them A HUGE disadvantage!
* Your visitors may doubt your credibility
* May have banners and/or pop ads on your homepage and/or all of your pages
* Long and hard-to-remember web address (instead of yourdomain.com)
* No guarantees of site availability and longevity
* No branded emails addresses (you@yourdomain.com)
* Poor help and support options (if any)
* May not be free forever

Advantages of Owning Your Own Dot Com Name

* Easy to remember website address (yourdomain.com)
* No banners or popups
* Easier to get listed in search engines (Google, Yahoo etc.)
* You have more control over the look and feel of your website.
* Multiple branded email addresses (you@yourdomain.com)
* Plenty of web page space for site expansion
* No worries of site being removed unexpectedly
* Looks more professional
* More flexibility for design and functionality
* Help is readily available

Many beginners gravitate toward the free hosters because they feel that registering a domain name is too expensive and/or too difficult.

I realize the website building process may be intimidating for you if you've never created a site before. You may be worried about spending your money on something that is unfamiliar and difficult. I can totally understand that.

Let me assure you that building a dot com site is not expensive at all. The average website costs between $5 and $10 per month to maintain.

This site costs me absolutely nothing to maintain because I earn all of my hosting fees back (and then some) by belonging to Google's free Adsense program.

They pay you to display text ads on your web pages and you earn a commission every time one of the ads gets clicked. And if you have a free site, you'll have a hard time getting accepted into this free program.

Second, most of the hosting solutions I will recommend later offer some kind of software or web building tool to create your pages so you don't have to know HTML or any programming to successfully build your site.
Search Engines Will Ignore You!

This is probably the biggest disadvantage - especially if you are trying to make money and attract free traffic to your site. There's no proof that you can never get listed with Google or Yahoo with a free website, but it's evident that the cards are stacked against you.

Search engines are an excellent source of free traffic so you definitely do not want to miss out on the great, targeted traffic you can receive.

Years ago it was super easy to get listed no matter what kind of site you had (free or paid). But now with all the spam techniques going around (particularly with free sites) the search engines have gotten very selective about who they add.

Here are the reasons I believe it's hard to get listed in search engines with a free site:

1. Too small and "unimportant." Most free sites are generally small (under 5 pages) and offer very little information about a focused theme or concept. They also tend to have more links to external sites than they do to their own internal pages.

Search engines are looking for meaty sites that offer information on a particular theme with a good amount of content -- at least 20 pages.

2. No upkeep. A lot of people that build free websites often abandon them within a few weeks or months which causes a lot of broken links, missing images, etc.

The search engines are getting smarter and for all we know they may have red flags in their algorithm (the formula that determines page rankings). So when they see that a site is hosted on a free web host's server, they may rank them lower...if at all.

For example, I wouldn't be surprised if the search engines had a script that says something like: "If site X is hosted at this-free-domain.com then "ignore".

I have no proof of this, but due to the fact so many people email me with this same search engine problem, it can't be a coincidence that people using free web hosts have trouble getting ranked.

Do a search for just about anything on Google now. I bet you'll see very few (if any) sites built with a free web host.

3. No links pointing to the site. Because of reasons 1 and 2, most other webmasters and important web directories won't link to a site built on a free host.

They may not look as professional and people don't want to give a free link to a poorly developed site with pop-ups and banners all over the place.

Plus, they also know that free sites generally have short life spans for various reasons.

Search engines use formulas and can see that no one is linking back to your site so they may ignore it. These days, the kinds of websites linking to you is so very important for achieving a good search engine rank.

The bottom line: Free websites get very little respect out here on the Internet.
Free Websites & Ecommerce Don't Mix

It amazes me how many people tell me that they want to start a business website but don't want to spend any money.

I personally don't know of a single successful website owner that built their business website on AOL or Geocities' website builder.

If you were starting an offline business, you'd plan on investing some money right? Well, doing business on the web is no different despite many beliefs. If you don't plan to invest anything to start a business then I'd have to question your drive.

There are NO SHORTCUTS to success.

You can't expect people to take you or your site seriously if your website address starts with something like is http://myfreesite...

And if the address doesn't tip your visitor's off, the banners and pop-ups you'll be forced to display sure will. Also, the templates (if any!) they provide are generally very basic and lacking a professional appearance.

Think about it. Wouldn't you be a little suspicious if the web address of a business was something like http://members.aol.com/users/myhomepage.html with pop-ups and banners instead of www.companyABC.com?

Web surfers are becoming much more Internet savvy and they can smell a "cheap site" a mile away. You don't want to lose credibility and potential customers because your site looks cheap.

Not to mention, you can only do some much with a free host. So if you want to add shopping carts, order forms and additional interactive features you probably won't be able to do this because most free hosting companies don't offer that kind of functionality.
More Problems Free Website Hosters May Encounter

It is quite expensive for these companies to run a free hosting service because the company has to pay for the space and the bandwidth (traffic) to host thousands of web sites. And since they offering these sites for free, some companies find themselves loosing money very quickly.

They try to keep their service free by slapping banners on the member's pages, hoping that people will click and purchase products...but think about it...how many banners have you clicked on lately?

Exactly.

Then some may try to redeem themselves by charging a "small" fee for their service. And of course, if you aren't willing to pay for your site, you can say "bye bye" to all of your hard work.

If you haven't read my story, here it is again.

Almost all free website providers let you know in their terms and conditions that there are NO GUARANTEES when it comes to keeping your available. Which means they reserve the right to remove your site at anytime, regardless of how much work you've put into it.

Second, which looks more appealing to you?

Having a web site look like this:

http://www.angelfire.com/nh/penguin2 (If you don't have a pop-up blocker then you'll unfortunately be invaded with a couple of pop-ups when you visit this site.)

or...

http://www.delellisdevelopment.com

Can you tell which site was free? ;)

Even if you're just looking to create a personal web site for fun, why not impress your friends and family by sending them to AnyName.com instead of some cheesy web site that will have flashing banners and annoying pop-ups all over the place. My web site is gone!

Back in the 90's, there were several places to go and get a free website. Unfortunately as the dot com companies started crashing, the free web page providers either shutdown or began charging fees just to remain alive.

Lots of companies closed down and didn't even give their customers much notice. And what's even worse, hundreds of people found their free websites gone from the Internet with no warning at all.

As you read in my example above, this is something that is still happening with many of the free web hosting companies, and in my opinion, it's not worth the risk unless your site is purely for fun and you're not concerned about keeping it for long.

Only Use Free Hosts If...

The only reason I would ever suggest you create a free site is if you need a temporary website (school, advertise an event, etc.) and you know it won't need to be around for long. Or perhaps you just can't afford to invest in a web site right now. That's completely understandable.

In the end, I really hope you'll decide to come back and learn how to register your domain name. Speaking as someone who has been burned by the free hosting companies, I am confident you won't regret the choice to build your site on a solid foundation.
The Best Way to Build a Website

My recommendation is to register your own domain (dot com) name and build your site from scratch.

The registration process is very easy. You're able to search the Internet's domain name database until you find a name that hasn't been taken. Within seconds you can reserve it and it's yours for as long as you want.

Once you have the name you want, you'll need a place to create your web pages. A web hosting company will provide you with the help you need in this area. You'll be happy to know that the hosting options recommended here provide top notch support.

Make Money With Google AdSense

[Note: Today, I earn much more than the amount on that check. The reason I do not have a more recent check to display is Google pays me by direct deposit now.]

----------------------

Anyone who owns or is thinking about creating a website would be crazy to ignore this.

I am happy to say that making money with your site, no matter the topic, has become easier than it's ever been before - and it's 100% legitimate.

If AdSense had been available in 2000, I would have NEVER shut down my soap opera fan site that received 200 hits per day. I would have been able to earn money from that traffic and probably turned a small profit.

Untold Facts About AdSense you need to know in order to succeed with the program!

Yes, the money can be great, but if you don't learn how to build a site that attracts targeted traffic then you won't make much from AdSense.

Don't pay a cent for these "Get Rich Quick" books on AdSense. Many of them are all hype. Learn all you need to know for free.

Right click and "Save As" to download this book.
What is AdSense?

Google.com earns most of its revenue by allowing other website owners to advertise on their search result pages. All this is managed through a program they call AdWords.

Now you can earn a share of the revenue that Google earns from AdWords by displaying these same text ads on your site. In other words, you're helping Google advertise and they pay you a percentage of what they earn.

This program is called AdSense.

Every website owner should at least consider the program. Even if your site is just for information purposes, you can still participate and make decent money with AdSense -- or at least enough to fund your website.

So if you are one of those people that doesn't like the idea of paying for a site, this is an excellent way to earn your money back and then some.

How to Create a Blog

Blogs are another kind of website. The content is usually organized by date and category with the most recent post/content displaying first.

Blogs are also easier to setup than websites, and because of this reason people are often lured into thinking blogs are a better option than websites.

But don't be fooled.

That doesn't mean they are easier to promote, build traffic and generate a profit (if that's your goal).

Both websites and blogs require work, patience, an understanding of Internet marketing and search engine optimization (the process of getting ranked high in Google, Yahoo, etc.)

So please don't go into this thinking that creating a blog is an easier way to make money online. Even bloggers making a lot of money have put in their share of time and effort.

website babble

Another thing you should know is that blogs can be somewhat limiting compared to a website (in terms of design and data manipulation) until you learn more about how blogs are coded.

However, if you use WordPress, you'll have the flexibility to do so much with your blog's content and layout. (More on that in a sec.)
Blog or Website? Can't Decide?

A lot of people get confused and wonder if they should create a blog, website or both?

Watch the video below to get my take on the subject.

Website Additions

Now it's time to make your site more appealing to your visitors so they'll want to return often. Follow the links below to learn how to find graphics, add background music, create message boards, add a chat room and more.

Building an Online Store

I'm glad you found this article because you are about to learn something that most web hosts won't tell you about building online stores. It will keep you from making a common mistakes countless people make when creating their first store.

Now before I continue, let me just say that I didn't write this article to discourage you from building an online store. I wrote it to educate so you won't fall into the same trap so many other beginners find themselves in when first starting out.
Watch My Video First

Before you read on, I invite you to my other site, 2 Plan a Website to read my article and watch my video about building an online store. It addresses many of the common mistakes people make.
Stores are Simple to Setup

To begin, creating the store is not the challenge it used to be. These days the "development part" is pretty easy. There are thousands of web hosts now that offer a free, built-in shopping cart when you pay them to host your site.

Another alternative is to use Yahoo!'s shopping cart program and have them build and maintain your store for a monthly fee.

Heck, you can even use Paypal.com for free! All you do is sign up and paste some HTML code into your website and Voila....you've got an instant online shopping cart.

Paypal handles the credit card transactions while depositing the profits into your bank account. (They take a small percentage of every order, of course).

So hopefully you can see that actually building the store is not the tricky part anymore.

BUT... don't waste any time setting up your store with any of these sites until you read on...
The Biggest Obstaclebuild an online store

The real challenge to making an online store successful is actually getting enough traffic to make a profit. After all, what's the point in spending time and money into building a store if you haven't a clue how to bring in traffic from the Internet.

Ninety eight percent of the people who try to create online stores or shopping sites struggle because they don't understand how to drive enough traffic to their stores.

It's not as easy as just submitting to MSN, Google and Yahoo and then your site will just show up on the first page of results.

So people spend all this money on a fancy website and storefront and have no idea how to make their site rank high with Google.com -- which is the best source for free traffic on the Internet.

Why would someone search for Luke's Shopping Site to buy something when they know they can go to reputable companies like Yahoo, Overstock, Amazon and many of other popular online retailers to buy the exact same items you're trying to sell?

In other words, how are you going to get your store noticed among all the billions of online stores already out here?

The answer is...you probably won't going after generic terms like "shopping" or "online store". Unless, of course, you're prepared to fork out millions of dollars in advertising every month like Yahoo, Amazon and some of the others did way back when.

Not to sound discouraging, but unless you've got an enormous amount of money for advertising, you will go broke trying to compete with the gazillion online shopping websites.

Big name companies like Amazon.com have spent years and millions of dollars in advertising to build their own brand awareness and it's hard to get in on this market share if you're just starting out.

But don't worry... there IS a solution to being found. And the good news for you is that most people will never figure this next part out. You'll be light years ahead of your future site's competition and you'll be rich if you do it right.

So if you can grasp and implement what you're about to read, you're way ahead of the game already! Congratulations in advance. :)

Most people shop online by going directly to their favorite retailer websites. They don't type in generic products unless they are looking for a very specific type of product that can't be found at popular retail stores.

Now that you know this, can't you see how difficult it would be for your store to compete with many of the popular brand name stores? So what should you do?

The answer is to build a niche store.
What is a Niche Store?

Before you even build your store you need to determine your niche. So instead of trying to build a shopping site that sells everything under the sun, start out small and capitalize on a niche you are familiar with.

Let's say you crochet quilts as a hobby. It would be much easier to drive traffic to a store that sells a specific type of quilt than to try to open a store that sells everything like Amazon.com. That way you can capitalize on people searching for very specific keywords about quilts.
Why Niche Sites Work

1) They have much less competition. Compare the results in Google when you type in "online shopping" versus "handcrafted quilts".

Sure, "online shopping" is a much more popular searched term, but you'd have a hard time getting traffic because you're competing with so many other webmasters who want their sites to be #1.

2) One of the keys with getting traffic to Google is content, content and more content. If you build your site on a hobby you can write pages and pages of content on this subject to help funnel in more traffic.

The more pages you have on your site, the greater chance the search engines will find your site, thus bringing you more visitors.

More traffic will hopefully mean more sales for you in the long-run.
Juggling All The Way To The Bank

My favorite example of a successful niche store is jugglenow.com.

Instead of trying to create an ABC Online Store that sells everything, the owner Jim Nelson created an information site about juggling that links to his online store.

Notice when you go to www.jugglenow.com, there's much more than just shopping to be done there. Jim includes tons of articles and information about the sport of juggling.

These pages are very important because they draw in traffic from the search engines. So instead of just promoting his online store by itself, these other pages help do the marketing for him.

This is what I mean when I say draw traffic to your main site first. Even though Jim's money maker is the actual store, he draws traffic to this store by providing tons of content for the major search engines to pick up.

Jugglenow.com is a perfect example of creating a successful, niche store. There are tons of sites out there like his but with different topics. You can do the same with the topic/niche of your choice.

Just FYI, JuggleNow.com was created with a unique web host called Site Build It!. It helps you brainstorm for the right topic and create your web pages so you can drive lots of traffic and generate sales from your online store.
Build Your Main Website First

Many people don't ever get this, but the key to making your store popular and successful is to build your main site and have that act as a gateway to your online store. I can't stress how important that is.

In other words, work on getting traffic to your main site via the search engines and then link your store to this main website.

The reason is, it's much easier for the search engines to find your themed, content-rich website than it is to find a single stand-alone store.

In fact, most search engines won't even add your store to their index by itself, but they will list your main website that links to your store. So that's why you need to focus on that main site first.

So if you want to sell your knitting needles online, you would first create a content-rich site on sewing. Offer tons of tips and guidelines on this subject to help draw in search engine traffic.

Then from those search-engine-friendly pages you would link to your online store. This is much more effective than just trying to promote a stand-alone store.

That's what Jim did with his Site Build It! site.
Build a Niche Store on eBay

Another way to make money from an online store is to create a niche store that earns revenue by affiliating with eBay.

BuildANicheStore.com is a product that teaches you how to set all this up. I can't emphasize enough how taking this approach to creating a store is much better than trying to start off by competing with Amazon and other popular retailers.

Finding a niche is the most important step, so it's crucial that you take the time to do this first.
My Recommendation

If you are new to building a website, I strongly recommend you either consider Site Build It! or Build A Niche store.

Both have generated a solid reputation online for helping people make money with a store and they give beginners the guidance they need to get started.

I haven't found any other reputable companies that offer this kind of help and support.

After earning a nice income on the web since 1998, I can show you what works and what doesn't. These articles below will provide good insight on how to experience your own online success. Enjoy.

Connect With Lisa Online

Due to the growing number of sites I belong to, I decided to create a page that shows all the ways you can stay connected with me online.

I even registered the domain name, ConnectWithLisa.com and directed the domain here, which will be handy for business cards. :)

If you have a website and participate in many different social networking sites, you may want to think about creating such a page for yourself.

One aspect of marketing online is accessibility. Make sure your audience can reach out and connect with you in multiple ways.
